Lessons from the Trenches – Reflections of a Management Attorney After 8 Years of Representing Plaintiffs

When:  Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 @ 9AM

Where: Via Zoom webinar (registration link below)

At the next monthly meeting of the MetroWest Human Resources Management Association, Mark Whitney will present on two topics:  (1) a quick review of the recent Mass Wage Equity law; and (2) a more in-depth discussion about a series of strategies and tips for employers to avoid situations that might result in employee lawsuits. Mark will cull these tips and strategies from his 30 years of “20-20 hindsight” gained from litigating, strategizing, investigating, and trying employment cases. Mark spent more than 30 years as a management-side defense counsel. He opened his own firm 8 years ago, and now represents individuals and companies. Mark will discuss, in particular, what he has learned in his 8 years representing plaintiffs. This is a great opportunity to learn from the mistakes of other employers and managers!

Learning objectives:

  • Tips to avoid ending up in court
  • Avoid creating situations that will interest plaintiffs’ lawyers
  • Managing situations to increase the chance you will prevail, if litigation is necessary
